WHAT IS
FIRE & STORY
Fire & Story is a family-friendly outdoor winter festival filled with illuminated art, roaring fire pits, and immersive performances that include music and storytelling to fire dancing, live metalsmiths, and saunas. Set in Bellingham, Washington, it celebrates the spirit of winter through warmth, creativity, and shared experience.
Fire & Story is produced by Paper Whale, a Bellingham-based nonprofit cultural accelerator dedicated to cultivating community through multi-sensory events. Every ticket supports the continued creation of experiences like this.
STAGES
Large, uniquely fabricated wood burning fire pits set the backdrop for five independent stages. Each stage holds a dynamic performance experience, protected by the elements to create a cozy, intimate atmosphere. These listening rooms offer the perfect setting for both performers and audiences to connect, celebrating the art of music and story in its purest form. See the schedule below!

More than 100+ performances across three nights, pushing boundaries of creativity for every member of your family. With each act, expect to be immersed in a world of unexpected twists, powerful stories, and mesmerizing visuals that linger long after the lights go down. This is not just a performance—it’s an exploration of art, emotion, and the unknown.
SAUNAs
Our Sauna Grove features three custom saunas nestled in a private area of the festival with it's own fire and lounge area. Reservations are for 50-minute sessions. You may reserve an entire sauna for a private session or hop in a sauna with open spots and meet new friends.
Fire & Story tickets are required to access these saunas.
