Nooksack Tribe

Nooksack Tribal elder, Skwetslátse'emót and Jr. storyteller Skwetslátse'elhót/Si'li'xw'tunawt come together to share their gift of ancestral storytelling. Their stories teach lessons passed down through the art of telling stories.

Tammy Cooper-Woodrich (aka Skwetslátse'emót), has been a storyteller since 1985. She is an elder and has many stories in her repertoire. The stories help explain how things came to be and are usually about animals from the Pacific Northwest.
Angela Letoi, (aka Skwetslátse'elhót/Si'li'xw'tunawt), a Nooksack Jr. storyteller has been telling stories since 2018 when her elders told her it was time to learn. The art of storytelling was a gift from the ones who walked before her and she truly enjoys being able to share them with others.
